When a Launch Doesn’t Go as Planned

There’s something no one tells you about being an indie author: you can pour your heart into a book, polish every chapter, obsess over every detail… and still watch the launch slip quietly into the world without the noise you hoped for.

That happened to me recently.

I had big plans for this release. I imagined excitement, momentum, and that electric feeling when readers start talking about the story you’ve lived with for months. But life got messy, schedules fell apart, and the support I was counting on didn’t come through the way it needed to. The result was a launch that felt more like a whisper than a shout.

And I’ll be honest — it stung.

But here’s the thing I’ve learned: a quiet launch isn’t a failure. It’s a pause. A moment to breathe, regroup, and decide what comes next. Most importantly, I’m remembering why I write these stories: to shine a light in dark places, give a voice to the missing, create characters who refuse to look away, and give readers hope and inspiration on their darkest days, a temporary escape.

I’m rebuilding from the ground up—reconnecting with my readers, creating an ARC team I can trust, and making sure the next book enters the world with the support it deserves. I’m taking back control of my process, my communication, and my momentum.
