When I started my writing journey, I’d finish a story, publish it on Amazon, cross my fingers, and hope for the best, but as many of you already know, hope alone won’t get your story far.
Despite my best intentions and countless hours of researching categories and the best keywords, my new release, receiving little to no momentum, is quickly shuffled to the Amazon graveyard to die among thousands of other titles whose authors have done the same. Which, any writer will tell you, is disheartening to say the least. All that time you spent pouring your heart and soul into, carefully creating your story and shaping each chapter with care, is now collecting virtual dust.
I soon realized that I have so much to learn about bookmarking strategies. That’s when I stumbled across a few experts in the book marketing field, who provided a few suggestions on what I was doing wrong, people who didn’t sugarcoat my mistakes, Their insights and advice were exactly the wake‑up call I needed.
Taking his suggestions seriously, I went deeper into book-marketing strategies and quickly discovered a wealth of resources, many of which are completely free. Ideally, the author has proven success within your niche.
But before you rush out and buy a stack of books, ensure that the author has tangible proof of their success. Many individuals falsely claim to be experts for financial gain, lacking the necessary social proof to support their claims. So please do your homework. So you don’t waste your hard‑earned money or valuable time on advice that leads you off track.
Keywords, categories, and book launches are also essential elements in your book marketing strategies. KDP offers free courses on that.
Another thing: oftentimes the true experts use their knowledge, their experiences, to soft-sell you into something bigger. I’m not saying their programs are useless. I’m certain that a lot of these programs offer real value but often come with a hefty price tag. Please do your homework before jumping into anything. And remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
My final piece of advice is there are many scammers out there, so please be aware. Make them show proof of work they’ve done and any review they’ve received.
